Winter Adventures Bucket List

Winter Adventures Bucket List
Winter Adventures Bucket List

Usually the rain doesn’t get to me, but this fall it has hit me hard. Maybe it’s the record-breaking number of rainy days we had in October. I decided it was time to embrace the winter and came up with a winter adventures bucket list:

Snowshoeing at Cypress Mountain: 11 km of snowshoe trails in the mountains with snowshoe rentals available

Hike up BCMC trail: instead of taking the gondola up to the top of Grouse Mountain

Snowshoe Grind at Grouse Mountain: winter’s version of the Grouse Grind

Light Walk at Grouse Mountain: strung light installations atop a mountain

Go on a winter hike: any lower elevation hikes can easily be done during Vancouver’s winter

Try the pumpkin pie smoothie at Victoria’s Health: because I’m going to need fuel for all this hiking

Go skating: Robson Square, top of Grouse Mountain, or the Richmond Olympic Oval

Go to Pie Happy Hour at Acme Cafe: because pie and free coffee from 2 pm to 4 pm

Shop the Vancouver Winter Farmers Market: I’m in it for the food trucks

See a show at the PuSH Festival: live performing arts festival January 16 to February 5

Attend the Vancouver International Wine Festival February 11 t0 19

Go snow tubing: because this sounds easier than snowshoeing

Go indoor rock climbing

Soak in the baths at Scandinave Spa in Whistler

Go cross-country skiing in Ontario: I am heading home for Christmas and I know my friend Hilary is always up for some outdoor adventures

Try a new restaurant during Dine Out Vancouver January 20 to February 5

Visit the World’s Biggest Christmas Light Maze: coming to Vancouver’s Olympic Village November 25 until New Year’s Eve

Return to Seymour Valley Trailway for a scenic long run

Take an Indian or Thai food cooking class

Run a race (or two): I am signed for a 10 km race in December and a half marathon in February

Escape the rain and go to the Cayman Islands: next week!

Run 28 km in “celebration” of my 28th birthday

Try a new fitness class

And if I get bored my preexisting adventures bucket list should keep me busy.

What is on your list of adventures to have this winter? How do you deal with crappy winter weather?
